Nature Walks for Gardening Clubs
Glenfyne Gardens is an important environmental site with lofty mature European trees such as cedars, cypress, pines, liquidambars, Japanese maples, flowering cherries, weeping elms, birch, beech, fir and camellias. The garden was laid out during the 1950's and most of the mature trees are over 60 years old. Not surprisingly it is home to many bird species including the endangered orange bellied king parrot, crimson rosella, and blue wrens to name just a few. Most of the mature trees are heritage listed and, as such, must be protected.
The gardens are of particular interest to Gardening Clubs who can appreciate the gardens in each of the seasons not just spring and summer. Every few weeks the gardens change with new shrubs blooming and new flowers or bulbs emerging. Even in winter there is an ethereal beauty across the gardens.
We run a special event for Gardening Clubs whereby we serve morning tea before conducting a tour of the garden identifying the trees and providing the history of the property. The cost for this (including morning tea) is $10 per person. Group bookings are essential.
Glenfyne Gardens can put together a customized Package for you that include B&B accommodation, lunch at Glenfyne Tea Rooms, and visits to wineries or other local attractions such as Alpaca Farms etc.
Nursing Home / Retirement Home Residents Lunches & Visits
At Glenfyne Gardens we love to share our beautiful gardens and appreciate the difficulty for older people in our community to get out into the fresh air. Going to a public park often involves traffic and parking or walking problems for some elderly people. Here at Glenfyne we have onsite parking for 50 cars and plenty of space for buses to park.
We have special discounted rates for morning/afternoon tea or lunches for Nursing Home patrons and other elderly groups. We cater for special meals such as vegetarian or gluten free and our facilities are wheelchair friendly.
